What day is it now? Ten? Yeah that sounds about right… What time is it? Wow 1:30… Guess I slept in a little too late. I really have to start waking up earlier if I don't want to have problems when acedemy classes start up…

I rolled out of bed, did a few quick push-ups for self gratification's sake, then walked out onto the balcony. I have a great view from my apartment. The whole village is bustling with this Kantsumiki festival. Children are playing, their laughter and joy echoes throughout the entire village. Balloons are flying around. Beautifuly crafted paper lanterns are lining the streets. Oh my I smell Bar-b-que… That smells gooood… The village is so beautiful, and it has a very, homey feeling to it. It's nice… I went back inside, changed into my day clothes (because I really don't have much variety), checked the locks on my door, then walked back out onto the balcony. I contemplated putting on my belt that has my machete holstered to it, but since I'm gonna be strolling around in large crouds perhaps a larger weapon is not the best thing to carry around. My taijutsu should be enough if I do end up in a fight though… I doubt I will. A cool breeze brushed across my face as I balance myself on the balcony railing, and 3, 2, 1, away I go! I let myself fall forward off of the balcony in an iron-cross pose to dive towards the ground. Twenty eight stories is quite a pleasant distance to jump from, but I din't really want to land on my face today, so I broke my momentum with a flip before landing gracefully on the ground. Did I close my balcony door? Yeah I did… Wait did I? No, yeah I did.

Aha! Found me the source of that bar-b-que! Of course I went and devoured a healthy hefty portion of that pork with pink rice… Yep pink rice, along with pink beverages, pink napkins, pink desserts, pink everything! It's actually kind of comical how much pink there is at this festival. Oh well, it's fun and I like it. And I thought my usual outfit would make me look underdressed for the occasion, but I had underestimated how flowery and brightly everyone would be dressing… My usuall floral over-shirt blends in perfectly!

So now I'm walking down a street that has little shops set up along the sides of the road. Quaint little wooden stands selling all sorts of nick-nacks and assorted curio. Haha is that a Mikokage bobble-head doll? Man there's all sorts of cool things here!

"Hello there my young friend!" A voice carried from across the street behind me. I turned to see who it was but it only turned out to be an old man running another shop-stand. "Enjoying the festival so far? I can tell you're not from around here and we of Heartshrine want to do our best to make you feel welcome!"

"Yea I'm really having a good time, is the festival this lively every year?" I replied after I approached the stand.

"It always has been a vivacious event, but with all the new village members this year is proving to be one of the most lively! Haha! By the way, are you prepared for the masquerade tonight? It's taking place in the village's center at midnight. There will be music, dancing, fireworks, and the Kantsumiki King and Queen will be crowned!" The shop owner exclaimed.

"Well what exactly constitutes 'prepared?'" I asked with a grin.

"You my friend have already got the colorful outfit part covered, love the shirt by the way in case I forgot to mention, but what you really need is one of these…" At that he dramatically pulled a blanket off of a glass display case containing a multitude of painted animal masks. Aside from the fact that this man had his whole dance planned out, these masks were really amazing and I knew I had to have one. He saw it in my expression too, but decided to give me a break and cut the price in half from the usuall amount. At least he said it was half… I chose a mask in the shape of a cat with a vibrant pink lightning bolt striking across the face

The shop owner pulled out a mirror so I could try it on. I looked pretty good in it and it fit nicely… But it looked even better when turned to the side of my face at a jaunty angle. I payed the man and turned to head further into the heart of the village (hehe… heart… cause the village is shaped like a heart already… hehe) for more festivities.

"Thanks a lot old man!" I said as I began to walk off.

"Take care my friend and enjoy the festival!" He replied while waving, "and I'm not that old! Haha!"
