So I discovered a wonderful place today… For some reason unbeknownst to me I woke up early in the morning. My first class today was genjutsu class but I still had maybe two hours until it started. I decided to go for a walk in the cool morning air. Though I've been in this village for a while and I know my way around pretty well,  there are still a few places I haven't been yet. Especially the East side of the village. So, that's where I set off towards. I had been wandering for maybe about half an hour when clouds crept in and began to pour their rainy tears. I ran off the trail and ducked under a large spruce to keep dry… I could see a silver lining in the clouds not far off so I could tell the storm would end soon. I was right of course, it only lasted maybe fifteen minutes before the rain let up enough for me to head out.

But something caught my attention.

I couldn't tell what it was.

Warm.

Whatever it was it felt, warm.

Where was it coming from?

I peeked sceptically around the other side of the tree away from the road. The warmth grew. And it kept growing as I ventured further into the thickly wooded area. I was beginning to thing a forest fire had flared up, but no…

It was sound.

And a lot of it. It sounded like a full string symphony was playing one full chord and it gently echoed off of every moist leaf to resonate through the forest. When I found the source, I was speachless. A small temple in the middle of the woods. It was circular, two stories, and located next to a small waterfall. Clearly man-made, cause boulders were cleverly stacked in a way that created the subdued waterfall that cascaded from the resevoir above the cliff. The building itself was not necessarily much to be excited about, but the interior is what Drew me in. I met up with and followed the concrete path that led towards the shrine's entrance. Then I stepped inside.

I was immediately met with a flood of sound. Resonating around the room like a whirlpool of flames. Whoever designed this shrine must've been a genius. The concrete path led to a single circular playform in the middle of the temple. Circling the platform was an indoor pond (like a mote) that covered the rest of the floor area. Around the rim of the platform was a bar maybe one inch in diameter, that housed hundreds of thin wires which were strung from the bar to another similar bar that circled around the wall of the shrine (which I guess I should mention is maybe twentyfive feet in diameter). Hanging in from a window to the left of the entrance was a cherry tree branch that grew in from outside. There were however no bossoms because it's not that time of the year. But back to the warm chord that filled the shrine… It was the wires strung around the room that were vibrating perfectly in tune. How you might ask? The rain. The raindrops falling from a mesh net ring (the size of the mote thing) on the ceiling dripped onto the wires causing them to vibrate. Ooooh that sound! The way it echoes everywhere is mesmerizing. I suppose I picked up a bit of a musical ear from back when I was in Dragonscale, but either way this is just… Wow. I moved to the center of the shrine and stood. Arms spread. Head laid back. I let myself become engulfed in the humming. The droning of the low notes, the ringing of the bell tones, and the fullness of it all… And it was all made better with the view of the waterfall visible through a section of the wall that was agape. This would be a perfect place to meditate…

Then I realized after looking at a sundial outside (yes the clouds had gone away and the sun was now shining… It wasn't a very long storm) that class started in ten minutes so I booked it out of there… In hopes of coming back soon of course.
:iconheartshrinevillage: academy week 4 genjutsu class... Theme: "A World Of Your Own" I figured I'd do an account of Atsuo's first experience with the musical and relaxing Kinsen Shrine.
